Summary |
The Real Business does not omit domestic detail, but although it was originally intended to be read by members and ex-members of one professional firm in Great Britain and elsewhere, it unexpectedly attracted wider interest. This was probably because the author, with a keen sense of proportion, had devoted so much of his attention to other relevant historical aspects of fire insurance and the settlement of claims. The Real Business is much more than the story of Robins & Co. through the last 100 years.
