ABOUT THE BOOK

In the present thirty first edition of our book , we focus on the achievements and failures of the Indian Economy, problems confronting the different sectors, critical, evaluation of the various programmes being undertaken by the government and growth prospects in considerable detail. The organization, structure and contents of the present edition are as follows: PART 1 of the book ‘Economic Development: A Theoretical Background’ is divided into three chapters. PART 2 discusses the ‘Structure of the Indian Economy’ and consists of thirteen chapters. PART 3 Of the book ‘ Basic Issues in Agriculture’ consists of nine chapters. PART 4 on ‘The Industrial Sector and Services in Indian Economy’ consists of ten chapters. PART 5 of the book concerns ‘Foreign Trade and Foreign Capital’. PART 6 on ‘Money and Banking’ consists of six chapters. PART 7 on ‘Public Finance’ contains five chapters. PART 8 which is the last part of the book is on Economic Planning and Policy.
