Over the years the National Council of Applied Economic Research has built up valuable data on household income, saving and investment in the urban and rural areas of country through sample surveys. The latest of these pertains to the year 1975-76. Data for this study was collected from a sample of 3015 rural households selected from 237 villages and 2110 urban households chosen from 150 cities/towns in the country.
based on this data, the report on Household Income and Its Disposition is published separately.
The present volume is based on a special tabulation of a subset of this data, on capital formation in agricultural and analyses in detail the pattern of farm investment and the influencing social, economic and demographic factors.
