The main idea behind this book was to summarise all the important information’s relating to the general insurance industry at one place and we have tried our level best to compile all useful information catering to different segments of the industry. After formation of IRDA many agencies like General Insurance Council, insurance information bureau, Brokers association, surveyors institute have started functioning and unless one knows properly their duties and responsibilities it will be difficult to operate in the market.
The first section in this book deals with the history of general insurance in India, followed by the IRDA functioning, summary of regulations and various regulatory bodies in India. The next segment deals with profile of all general insurance companies in India and views of the industry leaders who have put in all their experience to chart out a roadmap for healthy growth of insurance industry in India.
