Summary |
The law has not properly kept pace with the technological changes introduced by containerization, the major transport conventions in particular having been framed before the development of modern transport systems. it is surprisingly difficult to find the problems of containerization extensively examined in the conventional authorities on transport law and practice.
The purpose of this book is to identify and bring together for readers the main strands of legislation which affect the operation and use of containers and discuss the main practical implications of that legislation, and also commonly encountered contractual provisions. Where the source of the legislation or contractual provision is sufficiently important it has, wherever possible, been reproduced in full in volume II for the reader to refer to.
