     Summary

This volume consists of original source material referred to in volume I. its intention is to enable readers both to familiarize themselves with specific statutes, international conventions and contract terms at the time of reading volume I, and also to be a permanent collection of key texts for easy reference at any time. The texts appear in the order in which they are considered in volume I, subdivided by sections. Space and other constraints have prevented every original source from being reproduced either in entirety or at all, but every attempt has been made to make the collection as representative as possible. The number and bulk of the possible material on hazardous substances led to a decision not to include any sources as they could not hope to be representative. The reader is also advised that conventions, statutes and regulations appear in their original versions and do not generally incorporate subsequent protocols, etc. with other material it was sometimes possible to incorporate amendments - for example, revised clause 6(g) of the institute of international container lessors standard terms – or to include stop-press material such as the new institute container time clauses. Readers should note that the section setting out the terms of the OCL bill of lading had been set before the company altered its name to peninsular and oriental containers limited (P& OCL). The source material, however, remains current.
