     Summary

With this one volume, the reader is armed with the tools to address the key coverage issues of the day for each state. Although the book is aimed at attorneys and insurance professionals with some degree of experience, it is accessible to entry-level readers as well. Chapter 1 provides an overview of the CGL policy and the general ground rules of insurance law and policy construction. In addition, each chapter contains an overview of the nature, background, development, and competing schools of thought concerning the issue addressed in that chapter’s fifty-state survey of the law. Most important, however, readers will get a comprehensive state –by-state summary of relevant law on the coverage issue, including the latest cases and developments. This book has its roots in our own frustrations when addressing areas of insurance law. Although there are several good treaties on insurance law, many of which include listings of many of the cases, none had the sort of thorough, nuanced, and specific state-by-state focus of the critical issue that can best aid the insurance professional and claims attorney in knowing and understanding the law applicable to a particular dispute. We hope to bridge the gap- not to mention with the convenience of a single paperback volume. In future editions, we will address developments in the states on these key issues, providing up-to-date assistance to those handling coverage matters
