Corporation bank had the privilege to host the bank economists’ conference (BECON) 2002 on the theme “Indian banking: managing transformation”. Under the joint auspices of Indian banks’ association (IBA) between 27th and 29th December 202 at hotel grand Ashok, Bangalore. The conference was attended by a wide range of delegates and economists from all over India from banks, financial institutions and academia. They were addressed by speakers of great eminence from banking, finance, technology, central bank and the government on various aspects of the theme viz., re-orientation of structure, re-engineering operations and harnessing facilitators. The conference provided an excellent opportunity to share the perceptions and approach of the reserve bank of India and it also brought out many valuable suggestions for managing the transformation of banking in India.
The bank has taken utmost care to bring out this volume containing a comprehensive record of the proceedings of BECON 2002 so as to make it a useful and informative literature on Indian banking.
