Summary |
This little book serves a double purpose. First, it represents an initial step to bring together in a single source the experience of several practitioners of international insurance, representing underwriting, claims and producing, with a suitable introduction. Second, because the number and scope of international insurance transactions have grown, the CPCU curriculum should reflect those changes.
A textbook such as this is now necessary for many reasons. The principles driving forces behind this book were as follows.
1 As technology makes the world smaller and more accessible, it also makes international insurance transactions more common.
2 International insurance is sufficiently different from domestic insurance to warrant separate treatment
3 Although the scope of reinsurance has been international for many years, many insurance companies have begun to explore the possibility of expanding other operations overseas as well.
