Summary |
The authors designed this book for a one-quarter or one-semester course in risk management and insurance. The book, however, could easily serve as the basis for a one-year course, particularly if it is supplemented by some of the suggested readings. It has been the authors’ experience that most of the students in their introductory courses are not interested in risk management or insurance as a career (although many are attracted to these vocations as a result of the introductory course), and for these students the introductory course is a terminal course. Therefore, in addition to discussing risk management principles, the text also treats the major tool of risk management-insurance-in some detail. For students interested in risk management or insurance as a career, the blending serves as a comprehensive introduction to the field, which can be followed by more intensive studies of particular parts and case courses.
