Summary |
This book is written to explain what the techniques are and how they are used. Very little information is given about why the techniques work, or about the background and development of the concepts. This is a “how-to-do-it” book. Yet, the very presentation of all the material in a problem-solving-approach context encourages people to think about simplifying their work. Throughout the entire presentation, much emphasis has been placed on the human being: operators, unions, management, and the individuals included in each group.
Many techniques are presented, but some are omitted. The techniques included are those which seem to be applicable to more than two or three types of activity. Some specialized work situations might require special techniques not discussed here, but the general presentation of the concepts in this book should aid any such situation.
