     Summary

This book attempts to present a clear and lucid presentation of the basic concepts and techniques of modern corporate financial management. The job of the finance manager is conceived as consisting of money management, recording and reporting of transactions, evolving and deploying control systems and providing financial advice on important corporate matters. In view of this, the book is divided into four parts. Part I examiners the corporate objectives and in line with the corporate objectives indentified, evolves the primary objective for the finance function and describes the finance function as it is being organized in modern corporations. Part II of the book deals with money management proper, and discusses concepts and techniques or resource mobilisation for the firm such as the cost of capital, capital structure decisions and the required rate of return. Part III of the book deals with control techniques and control systems. Part IV of the book deals with some of the important corporate issues in which the finance manager is expected to advise the top management and the functional executives. These include cost-volume-profit analysis, techniques of pricing, the dividend decision and valuation for mergers and acquisitions.
