     Summary

The material in this book represents a collection of our thoughts and ideas on what a training and development professional ought to know. The ideas are based on our experience. The examples are drawn from our work with a wide variety of clients in industry, sales, service, government, and education. The majority of the work we do falls into the categories of interpersonal-skills training and assessment. Approximately 20 percent of our programs deal with technical-skills training. For this reason the material in this book will learn in the direction of the nontechnical or interpersonal skills. We want to emphasize, however, that the training process (as we define it) works with technical training as well as with management training.
