The Seminar is organized at a time when our economy is making rapid strides in all spheres and industrial and economic activities are increasing everyday. The special attention given to exports has produced gratifying results and according to official estimates India’s export are expected to touch Rs. 4,800 crores for 1976-77 showing thereby an increase of over 20% over the last year’s level. During the seven months of 1976-77 there has been a trade surplus of Rs. 75.4 crores against the huge deficit in the corresponding period of 1975-76. The position on the front of foreign exchange reserves is highly satisfactory.
