This book is different in several ways from others that have been written about Lloyd’s. Aim has been to show the ordinary reader how the market works and to capture something of its atmosphere and special flavor. Second, Lloyd’s influence is today world-wide. Author have tried to show how something that began as a purely marine market has now become the world’s greatest centre for insuring anything from an oil refinery to a fleet of jumbo jets.
