This book is concerned with the circumstances in which the reputation of insurers is made or marred in the eyes of the insured. Those who are responsible for handling a claim must see that it is handled as quickly and efficiently as possible, and whoever is responsible for making the final decision about a particular claim must do so fairly and expeditiously. All persons who deal with claim must have a sound knowledge of policy cover and the law which has a bearing on loss settlements, together with an understanding of the part that assessors and lawyers play in providing assistance to those who have to make the final decision.
It is purpose of this book to help the reader acquire the necessary practical knowledge to understand how claims are handled in the market, and understand what is the protection provided by the different types of policies. The list of risks covered in the aviation market, set out in the appendix, indicates the variety of types of claim which may arise in the course of the work of an aviation claims settler.
