The book has been divided into five distinct parts, dealing respectively with the nature and uses of life insurance, The Science of life insurance, analysis of the policy contract, special forms of life insurance, and organization, management, and supervision of life insurance companies. The first part of this book is devoted to a discussion of the practical uses to which life insurance may be applied, with separate chapters on family and personal uses of life insurance, business uses of life insurance, and other uses of life insurance. Part II of the book deals with the scientific phases of life insurance, and the chapters present the essential considerations connected with the measurement of risk, fundamental principles underlying rate-making. The Net Single premium, The Net Level Premium. The Reserve, Loading, Surrender Values, and Surplus and Its Distribution. Part III represents a considerable change from the previous edition. Part IV treats of the special forms of life insurance and has chapters devoted to Health Insurance, Group Insurance, Insurance and Pension plans, Industrial life insurance, Government Life Insurance and Old-Age benefits, and Other Forms of Life Insurance. Part V, dealing with the organization, management, and supervision of life insurance companies, contain chapters on Types of Carriers, Organization of Companies, Selection and Treatment of Risks, Investments of Life Insurance Companies and Government supervision of Life Insurance.
