     Summary

The nineteen chapters of the text have been grouped into three distinct parts, “The Place of Life Insurance in Economics,” “Economic Principles Exemplified by Life Insurance, “and “The Creative Functions of Life Insurance.” Part I, comprising five chapters, deals with the economic basis of life insurance, the nature of the human life value and its proper protection, an analysis of the monetary importance of human life values for the various groups of economic producers, the methods of appraising human life values and the determination of the amount of insurance required, and the reasons that make the scientific treatment of human life values desirable. Part II, consisting of six chapters, is devoted to a statement of important economic principles used in the organization and management of property, and an explanation of how life insurance makes possible the application of these same principles to the monetary worth of our lives. Part III of the volume, consisting of eight chapters, deals with the creative functions of life insurance for the person who pays the premiums.
