This book is not intended to be a comprehensive underwriting manual; although numerical ratings have been ascribed to some im-pairments, the reader is left to draw his own conclusions regarding others from the facts presented in the text.
It is hoped that the contents of this book will prove to be of value to Chief Medical Officers as a source of reference, and also to those doctors who may be asked to deputize in the underwriting room from time to time; to students of life underwriting as an introduction to the significance of various medical impairments, and to all who have the task of scrutinizing medical reports.
