     Summary

The opinions expressed in this book are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the thinking or policies of any particular company or organization. Many of the cases cited were collected by the author over a period of years through his reading of the insurance press and the various reporter services. Some of these cases were handled by the author in the course of his work as an adjuster. In organizing the material presented, no attempt has been made to give a detailed examination of every inland marine contract that may be encountered by an adjuster. The field has been broken down into three major classifications; namely, transportation insurance, personal insurance and legal liability coverages. The policies selected for individual study are believed to be representative of these three classifications and well adapted to illustrate the principles involved in each section. With this thought in mind, this book is offered to the insurance fraternity, in the hope that it may prove useful in the training of young men entering the inland marine field.
