This handbook is designed as a ‘ready reckoner’ to assist policyholders in making prompt and effective recovery of claims under their general insurance policies.
Admittedly, insurance consciousness is, relatively, low amongst the insuring public. Those who purchase insurance, be they individuals or corporate bodies, are not fully aware of the terms and conditions of the insurance contract and the procedures and formalities to be completed to recover their claims.
All policies have conditions and warranties which lay down, in most cases, what ought or ought not to be done; or what is or is not payable.
The policyholders, it appears, have neither the time nor the inclination to read the insurance policies. They are also not able to fully comprehend the policy terms and conditions considering the inevitable legal and technical jargon used in these policies.
