As a research document the thesis investigates the development and present state of the subject and makes recommendations.
No attempt has been made to comment on the practices of individual insurers, which are varied and frequently influenced by commercial considerations. Neither dose the thesis comment on the decisions of the Insurance Ombudsman.
In revision, the book has been updated to include revised policy wordings, recent legal decisions, revised guidance from various professional bodies and a new chapter (11) causes of subsidence, landslip and ground heave.
