     Summary

Public liability insurance is a relatively new class of insurance for which a wide demand has manifested in recent years. Corporate firms have become conscious of their vulnerabilities to public liability risk and of the need for insurance protection. This, in turn, has generated a need for knowledge on how the insurance scheme operates, what are its premium costs, how to prevent losses and generally how to manage the insurance function in a corporate enterprise. The purpose of this book is to fulfill this need. The book explains the insurance mechanism and, its complementary technique of loss prevention, in the context of total risk management. The book also provides a background to the relevant laws which are the sources of public liability risk. An attempt has been made to ensure that the treatment of the subject is as up-to-date as possible. Nevertheless, changes in liability law and consequent changes in insurance practice can be expected to be more frequent than ever before and, therefore, the need to be abreast of such changes cannot be over emphasized.
