This text addresses some of the educational objectives of CPCU 1 Ethics, Insurance Perspectives, and Insurance Contract Analysis, one in a series of national examination courses leading to the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) professional designation. Chapter 1 traces the evolution of insurance from early forms of risk distribution to the complex and highly regulated business practices of today.
