This book discusses the basic principles of scientific management and the application of these principles to the management of insurance companies in Africa.
There are twenty four chapters in the book and for purposes of convenience, it is divided into four parts. Part I deals with general principles and other preliminary issues such as the nature and origin of insurance, the development of modern insurance in Africa, indigenous participation in the business of insurance and an examination of the basic structure of the African insurance market, the objectives of insurance companies in Africa and their role in the national economy.
In Part II, the Anatomy of the insurance industry in Africa is examined.
Part III discusses in some detail modern management principles and their application to the insurance industry in Africa.
Part IV is an examination of some recent developments in insurance and insurance management in Africa.
The aim of the this book is to state the basic modern management principles and their application to the management of insurance companies in Africa, in addition to examining the structure and functions of the various technical departments in a modern insurance company in Africa today.
