The object of the Author is an endeavour to assist all those who are concerned in this vital service to the community. The book is the outcome of practical experience and, it is believed fulfils an existing want and provides a ready means of obtaining the information so essential for the proper discharge of the duties referred to. It has been compiled from notes which began to take form some 20years or so ago, and were intended for the guidance of Officers serving under the writer. The notes were added to from time to time until they attained proportions which brought a wider filed of circulation.
