Summary |
Bearing in mind the basic nature of the problem, this brochure is split up into three sections. Firstly, it describes, how risk statistics should be made up to provide all the information required but nevertheless remain clear and concise. Then it shows how risk statistics may be evaluated, giving particular attention to the question of how the experience of the past can be applied to business in the future. The final section offers advice and suggestions for determining suitable premium rates.
The brochure therefore deals exclusively with risk statistics, i.e. statistics relating to the nature of a portfolio and the claims experience of individual risk groups with an insurance portfolio. No reference is made to marketing statistics on premium income (with a breakdown of premium income, for example, according to classes of business or regions), as the purely commercial compilation of global figures in insufficient for the purposes of genuine risk statistics.
