Summary |
The appeal of the subject lies in the fact that it is basically a search for wisdom and for truth, the foundation of wisdom. Its practical value lies in the fact that it compels one constantly to increase his understanding and ability.
A great deal of the material embodied in the first and second editions of the Investigators and Adjusters Handbook has been incorporated into Part II of this book. That portion of the book has been extensively revised and brought up to date. It is devoted to text-book-like instructions in claims practice.
Philosophy is proper in its place but it does not get a claim investigated or adjusted. Investigation and adjustment involve action and accomplishment. Philosophy is only the thought that precedes the action. Both have their respective values and purposes, but neither can be ignored. The philosopher will discover better ways of action while the skilled, practical performer of the work will come by greater achievements than the philosopher ever dreamed of merely by following and enlarging upon the philosophers teachings.
