Summary |
In 1974 the Financial Planning and Control Division conducted a survey of the LOMA membership to determine the extent and nature of their involvement in overseas business. Survey results, published as Special Release entitled Survey of Overseas Operations of Life Insurance Companies, point to the considerable growth in the number of U. S. and Canadian insurance companies currently in the overseas market. The number more than doubled in the past 5 years. Moreover, premium income, product line mix, and geographic areas of distribution made similar strides.
In response to this increased activity and interest in insurance markets abroad, LOMA sponsored in May 1975 a Symposium on Overseas Insurance Operations, the first meeting of its kind conducted by an insurance association for companies within the industry. Its purpose was to explore marketing objectives as they pertain to particular lines of business that companies currently are engaged in or are interested in pursuing, and where and how these lines may best be marketed to bring about desired financial results. Guest speakers represented domestic insurers, both U. S. and Canadian, that are engaged in life and or property and casualty lines of business abroad.
These Proceedings contain highlights of presentations made at the Symposium. They reflect solely are opinions and practices of individual speakers and their respective companies, and are in no way to be construed as carrying the endorsement of the Association as a whole.
