The book aims at a quick coverage of the implications of effective working capital management. Starting with an appreciation of the role of working capital management as an integral part of the overall corporate management, the background and the process of working capital planning are considered. Approaches to forecasting working capital requirements and the aspects of funds flow analysis have been discussed with a few illustrations. The techniques and practices relevant to management of the individual component of working capital, namely, cash, inventory and book debts have been dealt with. The problems of financing working capital needs, particularly in view of developments of the recent past culminating with the Tandon Study Groups Report, have been posed and views expressed thereon. The scope for pressing into service advanced statistical and mathematical techniques as also computer services to resolve complex working capital problems has been briefly mentioned, with some examples.
